Proud to Care & Ready to Share 2009-2010 “Working” Action Plan We will identify goals to support our three populations: (1) Potential service members, students,families and community; (2) Active-Duty individuals and their family members; (3) Current Veterans and their family members; (4) Veterans who have passed and their family members; (Give us your ideas) I. Potential service member goals; (ultimately to recruit) and patriotic education / celebrations • Provide $100.00 annually for each Citrus County High School Officer Candidate program (Tom Green) • Provide $1,000.00 annually for one Bud Wise Scholarship for a deserving High School senior (JJ Kenney +selection team) • Ensure that each elementary school, junior high and senior high school classroom receives one Veteran Speaker annually to share their military experiences (Classroom team: RADM Mac McLeod; Hank Butler; Gary Runyon; Ron Resare; and Bob Truax) • Veterans’ Parade (Curt Ebitz + MOAA volunteers) • Memorial Ceremony (RADM Mac + volunteers) • Massing of Colors (Gary Runyon + one MOAA volunteer) • Inverness Primary School participate in Veteran’s dinner & programs II. Active-Duty Goals: to work with identified active-duty & reserve units to support in any way we can. We can offer a free virtual chapter membership for those officers not affiliated with a chapter and not living in the local area. (Chapter Members / Dick Penfold / Webmaster Michael) Document our organizational history with photos / info and place this on the website (Gary Runyon + MOAA Members + Webmaster Michael) • Health Promotion and Support of our Chapter members (ANC Team Chair Marge Blunk plus Sharon Richie- Melvan and Bunny Trawick) Health education and promotion for each of us will be advanced with our speaker program and with newsletter contributions (ANC Team + Dr Clarel Charles) A viable individual and family support program will be available for our members who are impaired, infirmed or in need of assistance. We will continue to offer hospital or home visitations; Hospice education, referrals and assistance, and periodic calls to stay in touch. (ANC team + MOAA auxiliary + Women of MOAA) Maintain a solid working relationship with all support personnel at area VA hospitals and clinic facilities and serve as patient advocates. (ANC Team) • Legislative Warriors in battle for our rights That we remain vigilant, knowledgeable, and actionable about pending legislative actions affecting our future and that of our active duty soldiers and their families. Veterans – Past • Ensure that spouses and family members receive all needed assistance for a smooth transition of our loved ones. This includes assistance as needed in the preparation of departure packets (notification, burial, fund distribution) (ANC Team + MOAA Auxiliary volunteers + Women of MOAA) • Cemetery Plots – ensure that all Citrus County Veteran plots are maintained with dignity and respect (Dick Penfold). |
